LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate new and emerging antipsychotic agents for the management of schizophrenia in terms of efficacy, safety, and adherence
  • Identify factors that contribute to nonadherence to medication regimens and the downstream consequences of suboptimal schizophrenia care
  • Describe potential mechanisms for antipsychotic-associated weight gain and metabolic disorders and develop strategies to mitigate iatrogenic effects
