INTENDED LEARNERS

This activity is designed for psychiatrists, primary care physicians, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychiatric nurses, and other healthcare professionals who seek to improve the care of patients with mental health disorders.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this activity, learners should be better able to:

  • Outline common metabolic disruptions associated with current antipsychotic agents and their contribution to suboptimal adherence, and patient morbidity and mortality
  • Appraise the clinical profiles of novel and emerging antipsychotic agents including their mechanisms of action and safety and efficacy data
  • Describe potential strategies to mitigate adverse effects and improve medication adherence rates among patients with schizophrenia

CLAIMING CREDIT
